ABIDING

John 15: 1 -7

    • We come to Christ and are saved - by abiding we grow into mature Christians - become fruitful.

John 8: 31-32

    • We do not know all the truth at conversion - we learn it by abiding in Him and His word - there is a blessing in abiding.

John 15: 7

    • NOTICE: does not say "you will do all things" but "ye shall ask" - By PRAYER we are enabled to "do" - but before we attempt anything, we ask.
    • If power in prayer is the gauge of our spiritual condition - then where are we?
    • The lost are miserable because they are "outside" the vine - starving - no strength - drawing no substance from the vine - will dry up.
    • Leaf, and fruit come out of branch without any conscious effort - it's natural - Prayer should be the same result of abiding - Is It?

Psalm 1

    • Two steps in climbing to power with God - Abide in me and my words abide in you.
    • Prayer is to spiritual life as breath is to physical life.
    • Fluency is not what is important - heart - feelings - remember Lk.18

John 15: 2

    • Pruning - notice the ones that get pruned are bearing fruit. Never give up because of the pruning.
    • All fruit comes from the source of the vine - our words and wisdom do not save anyone - the vine does.
    • A check without a signature and funds; you cannot expect to get any money - Jesus provides all things
    • God does not entrust His riches to just anyone - but to those who abide in Him - are you abiding?
