What Does God Think Of Abortion?
By Adam Bartlett
Abortion has made its way into the vocabulary of most everyone alive at one time or another. The move of society today is to persuade the average person that it is not only acceptable but a "right" to kill an unborn child. Unfortunately our own government has stepped in and given its approval on this atrocity as well. Regardless of what man may say, what does the Word of God say about this type of killing?
" Psalm 139:13-16-- For you formed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb.
14. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16. Your eyes saw my substance, yet being unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
" Job 31:15-- Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?
" Psalm 22:9-10-- But You are He who took me out of the womb; You made Me trust when I was on My mother's breasts. 10. I was cast upon you from birth. From My mother's womb you have been My God.
" Genesis 29:31-- When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
" Genesis 30:22-- Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.
" Isaiah 44:2-- Thus says the LORD who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you:
" Isaiah 44:24-- Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb.
" Isaiah 49:1-- Listen, O coastlands, to me, and take heed, you peoples from afar! The LORD has called me from the womb; from the matrix of my mother He has made mention of my name.
" Isaiah 49:5-- And now the LORD says, who formed me from the womb to be His Servant...
" Jeremiah 1:5-- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you...
" Psalm 58:3-- The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
" Luke 1:41-44-- And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43. "But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44. "For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
" Isaiah 49:15-- Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
" Exodus 20:13-- You shall not murder.
It is extremely clear from the scriptures above that God knows us before we are born and He is the one that creates us. He knows us and allows all things to happen. How can anyone with an ounce of common sense read the scriptures above and not see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the eyes of our Creator? The following is a few scenarios to give examples of why abortion is not the answer.
Would you consider abortion in the following 4 situations?
Case #1. There's a preacher and wife who are very, very, poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she's pregnant with the 15th. They're living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending she get an abortion?
Case # 2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have had 4 children. 1st is blind, 2nd died, 3rd is deaf and 4th has TB. She finds she's pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you consider recommending abortion?
Case # 3. A white man raped a 13 year old black girl and she became pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion?
Case # 4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She's not married. Her fiancé is not the father of the baby, and he's very upset. Would you consider recommending abortion?
If you said yes. . . .
In Case # 1, you have just killed John Wesley.
One of the great evangelists in the 19th century.
In Case # 2, you have killed Beethoven.
In Case #3, you have killed Ethel Waters,
the great black gospel singer.
In Case #4, you have just murdered Jesus.
I would also like you to consider the following:
How does God refer to the Unborn?
Matthew 1:18
"…she was found with CHILD
(not fetus) of the Holy Ghost."
Luke 1: 41
"…the BABE (not a CHOICE) leaped in her womb."
Jeremiah 1: 5
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before your were born I set you apart as a prophet to the nations."
Exodus 20: 13
"Thou shalt not MURDER."
God does care about every unborn child and as the verse in Jeremiah indicates God also knows every child before it is born. Regardless of the circumstances of the pregnancy, God does know each one. God also has a plan for each of those babies. Unfortunately over 1 million of them a day will never get to fulfill God's plan for their life, because they will be MURDERED.
God loves each of these mothers just the same and wants them to be restored also. God will never condone murder though and that sin will have to be repented of. There is a Spiritual Birth that has to take place before anyone on this earth can see God.
John 3: 3&5
"…No one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again. …No one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit."
Just as we are born in the Physical, we also must be born in the Spiritual.
Ask Jesus to come into your heart today and give Him complete control.
Having an abortion will not keep you out of heaven, but refusing to repent of it and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior will.
