Are Other ‘gods’ Real?

There are many religions out there today that have other “gods” and some beliefs even go as far as to say you can become a “god” yourself. Hindu’s have over 600 gods in their belief and Mormons believe you can become a deity yourself. Muslims call their god “Allah” but it is not the same as the God Christians serve. Even back in the early Bible days there were many Gentile beliefs that had other “gods” and God continually warned the Jewish people against associating with them.

The reason was because He knew that if they would associate with them and intermarry with them that they would start following many of their false teachings and serve these other gods. It all started with Lucifer when he was cast out of heaven because he wanted to set himself up above God. You can find the scriptures that talk about Lucifer in Isaiah 14: 12-14 and Ezekiel 28: 12-19.

It wasn’t enough that Lucifer was cast out of heaven for his actions but he wanted to instill the same thinking in the human race and started with Adam and Eve. In Genesis 3:5 he entices Eve by telling her that they will become as ‘gods’ if she eats of the tree.

What the Bible says:

Isaiah 43
10: Ye are my witnesses, says the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Isaiah 44
6: Thus says the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 46
9: Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Mark 12
32: And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

John 17
3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

James 2
19: You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The Bible is very clear that there are no other “gods” and as much as the New Age doctrine and the devil would like to deceive people there are no other gods beside the one and only Jehovah. Even Lucifer, satan or whatever you want to call him is not a god, he is simply a fallen angel that always wanted to be god but could not.

There are many man made “gods” that is true but they are not real and they are not really gods either. It is not to be confused with what God is saying in the first commandment about not having any other “gods” before Him. Anything we put before God becomes as a “god” in the sense that we are worshiping it or giving the attention, respect, and adoration due to God alone. In that sense it becomes an object of worship in the place of God but it is still technically not a real “god.” There is not deity beside God.
