Do People from other Religions go to Heaven?
By Adam Bartlett
There are many religions today and many denominations within the Protestant beliefs. One would have to ask, “What are the requirements to go to heaven?” Then you would need to know if all the religions taught the same way to get to heaven. The answer to that is obviously, “NO.” Then the natural question would be, if they teach different paths then how do you decide which path is correct and who decides that? It would also be a legitimate question to find out what the foundations were for each belief.
By time you try to find the answers to the previous questions you are exhausted and still know little about the truth. The truth is that while many religions offer various paths to get to what they call heaven, none of them offer a savior that paid the full price for that trip. None of them come without some type of man-made hitch. All other religions… let me repeat that, “ALL” other religions originated from some “man” and they all require their own individual methods. They all have some type of “works” ethic involved or reliance on some “man” in order to know the truth.
The difference with true Christianity is that the ONLY way is through Jesus and He paid the complete price and there are no works that will suffice. His work alone is all that is necessary and He sums it up like this:
What the Bible says:
John 3
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. "
4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man.
14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
31 "The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.
32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
33 The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful.
34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
John 8
24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am [the one I claim to be], you will indeed die in your sins."
John 10
1 "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
7 Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
John 14
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Romans 10
9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Jesus made it very clear that there is no other way except through Him. That is why it is easy to talk to people of other beliefs about God. They all have their own generic versions of who they think God is. Some think it is Allah, Buddha, or some refer to their God as simply a “higher power.” However in all of these other religions there is never a personal relationship with that God. In Christianity that is the center piece of the belief. A personal God that created humans for that specific reason, to have a relationship with them, had that relationship destroyed through sin. He sent His own son to restore that relationship by His sacrifice. He desires to have that relationship with us and so much so that He spared His son’s life for it.
No other religion can say that and no other religion has the spiritual power as that of the name of Jesus. When you start speaking of Jesus all other beliefs get defensive because they know that He is exclusive and they also know that by not recognizing Jesus they are rejecting God. That is why you can talk about “God” all day with other beliefs but when you specify Jesus, then the conversation quickly changes and defenses become apparent.
The answer to the question is according to what Jesus said Himself, there is No other way except through Him alone. Yes that is exclusive and because He is the creator of the universe He can say that. No other path will get a person to heaven other than through Jesus and His atonement. The enemy of the souls of the entire human race is only satisfied with one thing; the destruction of every human he can take with him. What better way than for him to create as many false teachings and beliefs as possible to entrap as many as he can. He is very good at what he does and he is the master at deception and blinding humans to the truth.
