Why Am I On Earth?
By Adam Bartlett
There is probably not a person alive that has not asked this question at some point in their life. God has put us here for a reason and the sooner we find out what that reason is the quicker we find purpose and accomplish our goals in life. Many people wonder around aimlessly through life and waste so much of what they have because they never fully understand what their “purpose” was in life. Our purpose for being here on this earth is not just to have a job, family, and friends and do the things we want and enjoy doing. Those things are all a part of this life and are major factors in what motivate our actions and decisions. We are on this earth for a specific reason and that is to glorify God in everything we do. We are to be His examples and ambassadors to all those we come in contact with.
Many people do not want to acknowledge God or allow Him to be a part of anything in their lives. When we have children we see a literal part of us as man and wife that we created through the miracle of childbirth. We see that child grow from an infant that is totally reliant on parents to mature into adulthood and make their own decisions and ultimately their own families. All during this child’s growing years we see parts of ourselves in them through actions and characteristics. This is exactly what God sees in us as His creation. Just as we desire the best for our children and want them to excel and have the best, so God does with us, His children. Look at what the Bible says regarding this.
What the Bible says:
Revelation 4
11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."
Esther 4
14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"
Jeremiah 1
5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Isaiah 43
7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made."
God may have a specific task for you to perform in your lifetime or there may be a specific function you are to perform. Even if neither of these situations apply to you, it is clear that you are here by design and for the purposes of God. You may not see those reasons now and may not even see them in your lifetime, but you are here for a reason and God will reveal it to you either in this life or the one to come.
Consider the following situations and see how God is in all things:

Would you consider abortion in the following 4 situations?
Case #1. There's a preacher and wife who are very, very, poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she's pregnant with the 15th. They're living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending she get an abortion?
Case # 2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have had 4 children. 1st is blind, 2nd died, 3rd is deaf and 4th has TB. She finds she's pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you consider recommending abortion?

Case # 4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She's not married. Her fiancé is not the father of the baby, and he's very upset. Would you consider recommending abortion?
If you said yes. . . .
In Case # 1, you have just killed John Wesley.
One of the great evangelists in the 19th century.
In Case # 2, you have killed Beethoven.
In Case #3, you have killed Ethel Waters, the great black gospel singer.
In Case #4, you have just murdered Jesus.
Today’s society has such a cheap value of life that we just throw it away or end it if it is inconvenient or not wanted. If we realized our value to God and how He can use us and what our purpose is for being here then life becomes much more valuable. We are here to give others this same information and show them that they are valuable to everyone and especially God.
Our concept of living a good life depends on our understanding of why we are here to start with.
