Crossing Over To Total Surrender

Genesis 32: 22-31

Vs. 22-24 - Jabbok is the place of total surrender - Jabbok = "pouring out", it also means to "passing over", and "struggle"

Crossing the Red Sea represents coming out of the world (sin) and starting new or "being saved"

A lot of people come out of Egypt but never get into the Promised Land. They get stuck in the Wilderness of unbelief, fear, and confusion. They never enter the Joy of the Lord.

The Jordan represents a commitment to walk for God: Baptism, Bible Reading, Witnessing, it is the functions without total surrender.

Not freedom from temptation, but freedom from giving in to lust!

Romans 12: 1-2

It is where God deals with us not only about our sin, but our Character, about transforming it to a Godly Character

Genesis 32: 20

We can NEVER compromise and accomplish this transition, we can not "appease" people to gain their favor and disbelieve God in the process

Genesis 28: 10-22

Vs. 12 - Jacob sees this but does not understand it yet, not until Jabbok

Vs. 15 - Look at God's promise to Jacob here and his actions in 32:20

Vs. 20-21 - Look at the conditions of Jacob's servanthood! What conditions do you make with God?

This was a "Religious" experience but not a 'Spiritual' one.

Isn't it interesting that this 'Religious' experience happens at Bethel which means "House of God"

There is too much 'Religion' in the House of God and not enough Spiritual services that will transform lives and souls

Genesis 32: 24

You must get alone in the presence of God and be determined that you must change

In the presence of God you will be forced to see yourself as you really are

Vs. 26 - You must come to the point where you say; NO more, Lord take it now, I'm tired of living below your Will for me. I'm tired of being defeated!

Vs. 28 - When you pass over this 'Spiritual' battle you will become a 'Spiritual Person', to me this represents being 'filled with the Spirit'

You will not longer be a 'Religious' (Jacob) person but a 'Spiritual' (Israel) person

Genesis 28: 12 - Now you will see what you were not able to see as a 'Religious' person, you will understand the ability to see God face to face

You will realize that there is an OPEN door to heaven and you can go through at any time
