Finding Grace in a Wicked World
Genesis 6: 5-14
Vs. 5 - Pick up a newspaper or watch the news today - scary reflection isn't it? "Every Imagination" - Without God in control of a nation or society it does not take long for evil to spread like a rampant disease.
Vs. 6 - I believe that God's grief was out of the abundance of love for His creation. He would rather not have a creation than one that is totally void of love. What could be the heart of God over today's society?
Vs. 7 - If God destroyed the living of the earth here and in Sodom and Gomorrah, how much longer can America hope to survive?
Vs. 8 - There is hope - even in a wicked and perverse generation. It is called God's grace. Grace means "Unmerited Favor." We truly do not get what we deserve, as a nation and individually. Romans 5:20 tells us that God's Grace is available even in the most perverse conditions.
Vs. 9 - Noah - "a Just man," "Perfect" and "walked with God." What kind of attributes would God use to describe you? There are always Noah's out there even in a wicked world.
Vs. 11-13 - How could you get a better description of the world today? God is going to destroy this earth again according to 2 Peter 3:10, but this time by fire! According to this we should be out with all fervency spreading the Gospel in this society. How many people have you shared the Gospel with this week? This month? This year?
Vs. 14 - There is an "Ark" and it is Jesus. No matter the condition around us, there is always an Ark of safety and we need to be directing those perishing to it. In a land that had never seen rain the ark stood out as a beacon, so it should be with us as the light bearers in a dark world today.
