GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN

Caleb; A Spiritual Giant

Joshua 14: 6-14

  • Vs. 7 It was in his heart – OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART

Caleb was determined to have a particular mountain for his inheritance. I believe that he had more in mind than just to fight the ancestors of Goliath. Whatever is in your heart will make its way out of your mouth. Your witness can be made or destroyed by what comes out of your mouth. You must always remember that the world is always watching and listening to you.

  • Vs. 8 He wholly followed the Lord - THE COLLOSIUMS AND CHRISTIANS

Caleb had this testimony of himself, "I wholly followed the Lord my God", how many of us can say that? I often wonder about the early Christians that were paraded in front of thousands of Romans only to be humiliated and fed to lions. Would we in this day have the fortitude to remain strong in our allegiance to Jesus under similar circumstances? We may find out soon enough!

Numbers 13: 28-33

  • Vs. 30 We are able

Caleb knew where the strength was and to whom the battle belonged. He knew that God was able and ready to deliver the enemy into the hands of His people, and still is today.

  • Vs. 32 Christians with evil reports - Seeing through flesh

There are plenty of Christians today that are completely ignorant of how the devil works to divide the Body of Christ. He has successfully caused many Christians to fight among themselves and therefore be ineffective for Christ. If the devil can cause conflict from within then the assault from the outside is less necessary.

  • Vs. 33 In their own sight

The key to their report was in this simple little phrase. They were incapable of looking beyond the circumstances and seeing the power of God. We do that ourselves, God performs a miracle for us in some area and later when the devil attacks us again, we completely forget what was just done for us. Too often we belittle God's power and willingness to act in our lives, by our failure to look beyond the circumstances.

2 Timothy 1: 7-8

  • Witnessing - Fears - Are they justified?

Do we believe the Scriptures? If so then why do we flounder when it comes to witnessing? Why do we fear the results of witnessing?

Joshua 14: 12

  • Why did he want this mountain? He understood the Spiritual battle and also knew the reward!

This mountain happened to be Hebron, which means Communion and Caleb understood the importance of taking this particular mountain and it's Spiritual implications. For us to Commune with God, we will face some giants to get there, but if we are willing to fight through the devils obstacles we will be rewarded.

  • Joshua was from Ephriam - means FRUITFUL
  • Caleb was from Judah - means PRAISE

Joshua 14: 13

  • The inheritance for WHOLLY following God is COMMUNION - and strength for the battle
  • Caleb’s strength was just as strong – IS YOURS?

Joshua 21: 13

  • Gave land to the Priests – Communion with God becomes our Refuge
  • Have you maintained your Spiritual strength?
