America is still recovering from the senseless and horrible tragedy on September 11, 2001 that will forever be etched into our history. There have been countless hours of news broadcasts and many different scenarios by commentators as to why this tragedy happened and who is responsible. There has been a relentless search by thousands of agents all over the world following leads and trailing suspects. Pursuing tips and raiding houses and apartments and searching through emails and every clue that surfaces. In the churches candle light vigils and prayer services along with cries of unity and standing strong and seeking comfort for those involved. In Government leadership and among people cries for revenge and destroying those that are responsible, ridding our world of these barbaric terrorists and seeking Justice. This terrible incident has brought this nation together in unity not seen since Pearl Harbor, with flags flying everywhere you look and God Bless America on signs and prayer being openly suggested by all. The statements by our President claim that we need to eradicate these terrorists and this evil from the face of the earth. I sincerely pray that as a country we are able to not only rid the world of these particular terrorists but that we are also able to see those that have existed in our own backyards for many years. America has truly been united, but I fear it is out of revenge only, and that kind of unity will not last. While America is united and while prayer is not forbidden by the general public could we consider the following to be added to our list of prayers? Could America consider the following facts and unite to rid this country of these terrorists also?
America has been in a moral tailspin since 1962 when the American people proclaimed all over this land that we did not want Prayer and Bible reading in our public schools. All, I might add at the hands of a very small group of people. Since then our schools have experienced a tremendous rise in violence and drugs and alcohol problems, not to mention the explosion of teen pregnancies, gangs, and complete disrespect for any authority. Then in 1973 this country went a step further by declaring that it was legal for a woman to choose to have a baby murdered. Since that time (1973-1996) 35,000,000 babies have been aborted. I realize that it is possible that over 5,000 people may have lost their lives in this tragic event on the 11th.
For that this country is waging war on these Terrorists and understandably so but what about 35,000,000 innocent lives lost? Should there not be a war for these victims? Should there not be an outcry from all across the country and the world as there is today over these bombings? Some facts that you may not be aware of: Loss of life in each war; Civil War 498,332, World War 1- 116,708, World War 2- 407,316, Korean War 54,246, Vietnam War 58,655, Persian Gulf War 372, Total 1,135,629. All of the wars combined are still over 30 times less than the number of murdered babies since 1973! I believe that these "terrorists" are the ones that should have been targeted with war long ago. Terrorists that kill the innocent that have no way to fight back, and what's worse is they do it legally under this country's governmental protection.
This country has further moral decay in the fact that it is number one in producing pornography, including child pornography, number one in divorce, violent crime, teen suicide, teen pregnancies, along with every other characteristic listed in 2 Timothy 3. Homosexuals trying to force their perverted lifestyles as acceptable and winning media support and legislation. Can America use a wake up call to see the depravity it has fallen to? I can remember when the same unity and prayer vigils happened with the Gulf War but it was short lived. The point is that prayer is what is needed for this country but there is another ingredient that is desperately needed in light of the facts above and that is "REPENTANCE." Revenge will only satisfy surface needs and feelings, but this country is in much deeper need. We as a nation need to fall on our faces before the Almighty God and repent. A scripture worth repeating; "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." For those that are familiar with the story of Jonah and Nineveh, Jonah preached for them to repent and they did and God spared them for another 100 years until they went back to perverseness. Our churches should be preaching repentance to this country for the crimes against humanity and God that have been plaguing us for years.
It is hypocritical of this country to proclaim to the world and bolster support from them to rid the world of these evil terrorists when they allow the evils mentioned above in their own country and protect them by law. Until this country gets the Beam out of its own eye it has no right trying to eradicate evil from the rest of the world. WE are this country and WE are the ones that can make the changes in this country's policies. We must pray that God will use this opportunity to bring this country to REPENTANCE and then He will be able to hear our prayers and heal our land. I don't believe that there will ever be healing until there is true repentance. We cry for God to bless America and He already has and look at what we done with those blessings. I cannot imagine that we have a right to pray for God's blessings on this country but rather we should be praying for God's Conviction. "God please turn the hearts of your people to repentance and open the eyes of our leadership in this country to what they are doing. Let this country and it's leaders seek to eradicate all terrorists, not only those responsible for the bombings but those in our own back yards also. Let true repentance be heard throughout this country for the crimes it has committed and continues to, so that You will hear our prayers and heal this land. In Jesus Name"
