Proper Offering

Genesis 4: 1-15

Vs. 3 - It is apparent that the institution of offering had been established already

It is also interesting that Cain means - "acquisition" and earth

Vs. 4 - It is also apparent that God had already established the requirement of the first born

Abel was a shepherd and killed by his brother - striking parallel to Jesus

Vs. 5 - Cain's bloodless sacrifice was unacceptable

Blood was the price established for sin - Hebrews 9:22

Vs. 6 - Have you ever been angry at God?

Vs. 7 - If as in Cain's state you allow sin to control you then you become the

servant of sin - Romans 6:16

Sin lieth at the door of every Christian waiting to trip them up.

Vs. 8 - What did Cain talk with Abel about? I would guess that Abel was trying to witness and explain to

Cain the importance of sacrifice and repentance and Cain refused to hear

The ultimate result of sin controlling you is death and violence

Vs. 9 - "Am I my brother's keeper?" Yes, it is called discipleship - 1 Corinthians 8:7-13 and Galatians

6:16

The lack of accountability and discipleship is a major problem in the church today

Vs.10 - Numbers 32:23 - Your sin will find you out sooner or later

Vs.13 - satan will cause you to despair but God promises that you will never be overloaded - 1

Corinthians 10:13

satan's purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy you - John 10:10 and he wants you to commit suicide

and crumble under the pressure
