THE RIVER

Ezekiel 47: 1-12

  • Notice in this story that Ezekiel was taken first to water up to his ankles, then the knees, then the waist, then over his head. This is a good depiction of the Christian walk. We start by accepting Christ, then we begin the walk. Notice that the water comes out from the right side (Christ's side) of the altar, the place of death and sacrifice. Notice it is running water also not stagnate which breeds bacteria and stench.

Vs. 4. Prayer

  • I believe that the water to the knees represents the period in the Christian walk were one realizes the importance of prayer. When the Christian understands that to further this relationship and develop it requires time on our knees. What did Jesus say? Matt. 21:13
  • How important is it in your life? How much TIME do you devote?
  • Do we really understand the importance of it?

Vs. 5 Maturity in Christ

  • Completely submitted to Jesus - when we get to this stage in the walk, we are letting the Spirit control us. We have learned that it is useless to swim against the current.
  • Letting Him direct your path –like the river.

What is this River?

  • John 4: 10-14 - 7:37

 Ezekiel 47: 7- 12

  • The trees growing now in this area and the vegetation is bountiful. I was able to see this area on a trip to Israel and it is amazing how that it has come to life. Once we reach maturity in Christ we produce bountiful fruit also. As in vs.8, we are to bring life to the Spiritually dry and dead of the world by the Spirit that flows out of us.

Where are you at in this River?
Are you still wading in the kiddy pool and need to move on?
Maybe you haven’t been saved and are not even at the bank yet?
Are you pleased with where you are? IS GOD?
What about your Prayer life?
