The Enemy Wants You Back

Exodus 14

Vs. 1-9 - We see here how that God has already delivered His people from Egypt (sin) and now they are encamped with the sea in front of them and the Egyptian army behind them. God will deliver you from Egypt, but the enemy is determined to get you back.

It is interesting how that a new convert's biggest attack from the enemy is to cause question to their conversion. As soon as you make a mistake or do something wrong that thought comes charging into your mind; (your aren't really saved or you wouldn't have done that). I learned years ago to take this situation and turn it around with the reasoning that goes like this:

Why would the enemy waste his time trying to convince you of something if it was not real? In other words; why would he waste the time trying to convince you that you are not really saved if your weren't? He already knows that and if you aren't saved then you are not a threat to him anyway. He knows that if he can get you to believe his lie that you may stop acting like you are really saved and eventually turn back to him. Once you understand this concept then this confusion will stop and you will truly understand how the enemy is so deceitful and subtle.

That doesn't mean that the attempts and attacks will stop. Once you stop the enemy's attacks in one area he will find another area and resume the attack. His whole purpose is to "steal, kill, and destroy" (John 10:10) you.

Vs. 10-22 - We have to be careful that we do not become as most of the Jews did and become as the seeds that Jesus described as falling on the stony places (Matthew 13: 20-21). That is exactly what the enemy wants, to persecute us and cause us to fall away.

The enemy may seem like he has walls (vs.22) surrounding us but we must remember if we keep our hearts and minds on Christ that we will walk right through the middle of them. Remember Psalm 23

- "Yea though I walk "through" the valley of the shadow of death." You must walk "through," not above or around and always remember Jesus will guide you through and never leave you.

Vs. 23-31 - God will deliver you - You will walk through the trial on firm ground instead of what was normally muddy ground and God promises to close off the enemy behind you.
