The Promise to Israel
Exodus 6: 1-8
Vs. 3 - God reveals His personal Name to Moses. God will reveal Himself in a personal way to those who seek Him and have a relationship with him.
Vs. 4 - He makes His covenant with His people. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Vs. 5 - He will hear you and will answer your plea
Vs. 6-8 - In these verses are the five steps of redemption which also were transformed into the five cups of wine that are prepared for every Passover. The Jews still observe this at each Passover to remember the captivity and salvation from Egypt.
1. - "I am the Lord, and I will bring you out" - He will free you from the burdens of the enemy
2. - "I will rid you out of their bondage" - By His power He will break the chains of bondage and deliver you. Regardless of what it is holding you captive Jesus can break any bondage by giving your trust and faith in Him. The name of Jesus is more powerful than anything that the enemy can put on you.
3. - "I will redeem you with an outstretched arm" - Jesus has already redeemed us by the price He paid on the cross all we have to do is accept that free gift and make Him Lord over us. It is not enough to just be redeemed and accept that price, you must live for Him daily and allow Him to be in complete control over you. He wants to redeem you and has a purpose for you to spread that redemption story to others.
4. - "I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God" - To remind us of our sanctification in Him. God earnestly desires that lost relationship with man again that was lost in the garden. When Jesus died on the cross the veil was rent in the Temple opening the way once again to direct access to God.
We now have that access to "enter boldly into the throne of grace" by the blood of Jesus. We are to be a special people to God and to be witnesses to the world.
5. - "I will bring you into the land" - A picture of the promise of eternal life and a future paradise in which we will dwell - John 14: 2-3. That day is fast approaching and it is vital for all of God's children to be working in the fields to bring in the harvest. The fields are ripe to harvest but the laborers are few, pray therefore that the master of the field will send laborers to do the work.
