To Whom It May Concern,
I wish to make a formal complaint to the health registration bodies specifically in Queensland but extends to Australia in general.
I am a 47 year old mother of three who underwent three years of emotional and mental torture at the hands of counselling/therapy techniques used by a registered Pyschologist and a freelance unaccountable therapist on the Qld Gold Coast. These two therapists used Repressed Memory techniques, Age Regression and Theophostic Prayer Ministry techniques on me and my children. The results were devastating because 'False Memories' WERE created from these brainwashing techniques and this led to the total destruction of my immediate family and extended family. The therapists offered cures, solicitored money for the therapy and encouraged me to not seek professional medical health and cut off from my family and friends. In addition I was advised to discontinue taking medication for depression which I had been taking for several years.
The registered Psychologist is Mara Moreau of 26 Beaton Street, Coopers Plains Queensland. The therapist/ counsellor on the Gold Coast is a Ms Mary Cutts of last known address 14 Lexington Drive, Worongary, Gold Coast ,Qld.
Ms Cutts is by far the most dangerous because I had 18 months of intensive repressed memory/Theophostic Prayer ministry therapy from January 2002 to September 2003. At this point I had an emotional breakdown, tried to commit suicide and lost my husband to the therapist (Ms Cutts), my only 2 daughters to the 'false memories' that were elicited and my extended family. I am currently seeing a Psychiatrist Dr Tom Hogan of Belmont Medical Centre, Brisbane, QLD. Dr Hogan is still treating me for severe depression and is aware of the therapy techniques used by these two women. I have made numerous and substantial complaints about Ms Cutts previously but because she is unregistered and not affiliated with any body such as Psychology Boards, Counselling and Church bodies, My complaints have nowhere to go. This WOMAN DESTROYED MY LIFE, she manipulated her way into my life through my husband and later took off with him, practised unproven techniques of repressed memory therapy and created 'false memories' that can't be co-oberated, in my children and alienated me from my extended family. Yet to the best of my knowledge she is still practicing her witchcraft and magic out there in the community at large. She is potentially dangerous and it seems that I cannot hold her accountable to anyone because she runs a business offering miraculous healings and is not affiliated with any regulatory Body. There are other therapists out there who are using these questionable techniques and are doing what they like and destroying lives in the process.
This is a cry from my heart that something be changed in the way of accountability of all Health professionals and Church Ministry Practitioners. THERE NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABILITY IN ALL THE THERAPEUTIC PROFESSIONS. The destruction and emotional suffering created as a result of freelance therapists cannot continue to be ignored. The 'buck' has to stop somewhere. I have been tossed from pillar to post in all this and it seems because they refuse to be accountable to anyone they can practice therapies that are totally and ethically unsound. These therapists ( who are allowed to remain unregistered, collect payment for services and practice unethical therapies) are causing the most damage to the Profession of Mental Health and Counselling and they are destroying families and people's lives in the process.
Please do not ignore this issue IT IS VERY REAL, I speak for all those out there who have suffered enormously by BAD THERAPY. It has led to suicides, families being alienated and individuals having total emotional breakdowns. If you need statistical data please refer To The Australian False Memory Association (AFMA) they have been formed to help true victims of this fad of 'recovered memory'. That is those wrongly accused and the repercussions that have followed from unfounded mystically created 'memories'. We need to bring about some sort of redress to counselling methods and registration of counsellors in Australia in general and restore sanity and human decency back into the profession. Please take this letter seriously the problem is very, very REAL. If you require any other details I am more than willing to supply true facts to the whole issue of concern.
