What About The Purpose Driven Church?

By Adam Bartlett

There are not many churches that have not heard of or been a part of the new concept guaranteeing church growth. The concept itself seems good on the surface, but as we all know it is not the surface where the danger lies most of the time. It is under the skin where the vital sources are needed to sustain normal and healthy life.

The purpose driven church/life concept which was fostered by Rick Warren has been widely disputed and for good reason. Rick has a "mega-church" in California called Saddleback Community Church.

A big part of Rick's influence of this "Seeker Sensitive" concept came when he met Robert Schuller and was totally captivated by him and his attitude. In fact Robert Schuller has even claimed to be the originator of this concept of the Seeker Sensitive approach. That would be the first red flag because I would not want anything endorsed by Mr. Schuller.

This move has been plaguing the church for a long time and now it has a name. Entertainment and the idea that success is measured by numbers have always intrigued pastors and they have always looked at these "mega-churches" as the elite that have finally found the missing ingredient.

There has never been a time in our history that we needed more sound teaching and rightly dividing the truth to people. Entertainment is the last thing needed by this degraded society that is already saturated with Hollywood's influence, yes, even Christians.

There are many out there that have done some great research on this issue and I want to share their information with you. There are many quotes from the sources which should make any Truth seeking Christian angry to see what is infiltrating our churches.

Here is a great source on this subject:
