Why Sit We Here Till We Die?
2 Kings 7: 1-9
Recap - 6: 24-25 - Samaria was capital - surrounded by Syrian Army - there was now a famine
Inside - God’s chosen people - Outside - the enemy (Lost Souls)
If enemy keeps your Spiritual activities confined to Inside church - you will starve and so will those Outside
Famine is in many churches - let’s not be one of them
God likes a moving target - Satan likes a stationary one - Which are you?
Verses 3-4
Lepers not allowed in city - Unclean (Ceremonially)
They (the Lost) sat at the city gate and survived on those entering or leaving the city (Church)
They realized the Famine was inside the Church also - Is that true Here?
Galatians 3: 26-28
One of the problems is too many divisions among God’s people
5:15 - Another problem is self-mutilation of the Body
Matthew 21: 12-14
A den of thieves, how? A lot of church's become a Religious Business instead of a Missionary Business
They made it easy - convenient - instead of Carrying the sacrifice to the place of offering just go empty and buy it there.
How is this done today? Convenient hours of services - No prayer required beforehand. What do you do to prepare to meet with God?
Verse 14
Notice before Jesus HEALED the corruption was removed from the church
Verses 18-19
Israel was represented many times as a fig tree - they had a show of Religion but no Fruit of Godly Living
Fruit is the product of Life - Leaves do not always indicate Fruit (Profession/Possession)
Sooner or later your leaves will be looked under for fruit by the Lord
Proverbs 18:19
The result of Hypocrisy 11:30 He that is Wise winneth souls
2 Kings 7: 8-9
There are too many Spiritual sponges in churches today
Even the lost are better to themselves than the church to each other sometimes
Are you a moving target?
Do you prepare before coming to church?
Is there a Famine in your life?
If Jesus looked for fruit under your profession would He find any?
