Lesson #10

Question: Do people from other religions go to heaven?

Opening Discussion:

Q - What do you think the requirements are to go to heaven?

Q - Do all religions teach the same way to heaven? (The answer is obviously no) Then How and Who would decide which one is correct?

Q - What are the foundations for other beliefs? (ie… Koran, Book of Mormon, New World Translation, Buddhism, etc…)

What the Bible says:

John 3

3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. "
4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man.
14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

31 "The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.
32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
33 The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful.
34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

John 8

24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am [the one I claim to be], you will indeed die in your sins."

John 10

1 "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
7 Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.

John 14

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Romans 10

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Q - After reading these scriptures, what do you think about the question?

Q - Can you see how that if everyone was able to find their own way to heaven that it would be impossible to distinguish who could go and who could not?

Q - In NO other religion did the founder of that religion give their life for the sins of their followers! Does this make a difference?
